Obama and his family are relocating from White House to a nine-bedroom mansion in an upscale neighbourhood in Washington after he left the Oval Office in January 2017.
The 8,200-square-foot mansion which is valued at well over £ 4million (N1.5bn - official rate, ed.) is owned by Joe Lockhart, a former press secretary and senior adviser to Bill Clinton.
Photos of the luxurious mansion were shared by Washintonian.com, showing the Obamas’ new home to have spacious rooms with hardwood floors, white marble counter tops and kitchen, a spacious patio and his-and-hers master bathrooms. The home sits on a quarter of an acre and includes a gazebo and, appropriately, a vegetable garden, according to the listing.
The 9-bedroom mansion also has an au pair suite said to be suitable for Marian Robinson, Michelle Obama’s mother who has lived with the family in the White House.
Even though the Obamas own a home in Chicago, the ex-president stated earlier in March that he and his family would remain in the Washington area until his last born, Sasha, graduates from high school Sidwell Friends. The new neighbourhood has long been home to politicians including Franklin D. Roosevelt, Herbert Hoover and Senator Edward M. Kennedy.
